I am contemplating three levels of powerlessness that tell the truth about human vulnerability.
The powerlessness of self in the face of isolation. The individual in isolation cannot endure, much less flourish.
The powerlessness of community in the face of tyranny. The Trump Administration is simply a demonstration of incompetent leadership on a large scale. The chaos we see at the national level I have seen in churches, nonprofit agencies, and businesses.
The powerlessness of humanity in the face of nature. The hurricanes in the Atlantic and the firestorm in Montana and now in Northern California demonstrate our shared vulnerability.
We come together as family, community, and nation to benefit from the strength of our diversity to bring a measure of comfort and renewal when our humanity is tested.
“It is not good for Man to be alone.” We are not created to confront the fierce, overwhelming onslaught of circumstance alone. We are created for each other.
I have enough of SOMETHING to share. The generous life lived freely releases power enough.
